The Historic Courthouse -- A Gem!

The Historic Courthouse on Main Street is fast becoming a centerpiece attraction for Hendersonville.
Community events are held in its court yard.  The Museum is really special.  It's small, but has a great impact on the town. Meetings of the county commission are held there.  There is a community room that gets frequent use. We are fortunate indeed to have it.

This postcard was printed in Germany in the 1920's to 1930'. The Wheeler Hotel can be viewed to the right of the Courthouse.  A Confederate monument is located on the left.  The building was in good repair then. It was completely renovated and restored to its original state a few years ago. It is a wonderful door mat to the city and county.
This image was made in the Mid- 1950's. The two-tone Chevrolet parked in front of the Courthouse is a 1956 Bel Air.  Notice that the Confederate Monument that was in the street to the left of the Courthouse is now located on its right side and off of the street.
This image is of the remodeled building as it is today.

We all love the golden dome.

There was recently great community input  and participation in the creation of a new Henderson County flag.
These four images were finalist.  The one on the bottom row - right -- was the winner.  The flag in various sizes is on sale in the HERITAGE MUSEUM -- located in the Historic Henderson County Courthouse.
